- Created by Dr. Macel Wheeler, NKU History & Geography Department, and Lawrence Rasche, this site provides maps of the 13-county region of Indiana , Kentucky, and Ohio which is defined as a metropolitan area by the U.S. Bureau of the Census. County data are displayed in the context of census tracts and in places (incorporated or generally recognized towns, cities, etc.). Helpful explanation of georeferencing and reference to map-making software which is available to the public at no cost.

- Country Studies/Area Handbooks
- These books are available in both print format in the library and as e-books on the Web. The series presents a description and analysis of the historical setting and the social, economic, political, and national security systems and institutions of countries throughout the world and examines the interrelationships of those systems and the ways they are shaped by cultural factors. The Country Studies/Area Handbook Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Army. The series is not all-inclusive. Notable omissions include Canada, France, the United Kingdom, and other Western nations, as well as a number of African nations. The date of information for each country appears on the title page of each country and at the end of each section of text. Please note: Although these books contains extensive and valuable information, many were published a number of years ago, so you will need to supplement your information with further research in current databases.

- CIA World Factbook
- For each country includes a map, physical geography, demographic statistics, political/economic facts, and transportation, communications, and military information.

Country data includes recent history, economic conditions and statistics, government, political conditions; lists leading newspapers, periodicals, publications, radio and TV, trade and industrial organizations.
