Friends of Steely Library Present an Afternoon with Wendell Berry, September 21
The Friends of Steely Library will present a reading by the celebrated Kentucky author Wendell Berry, followed by a signing, on Sunday, September 21 at 2 p.m. in Greaves Concert Hall, on the Highland Heights campus. Admission is free. Doors open at 1:45 p.m. and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. A variety of titles will be available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Friends. Steely Library Receives LSTA (Library Services and Technology Grant) Library Automation Grant
Steely Library Receives Grant from the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives for the expansion of Steely’s eContent Production Area. Robert Zai III, Project Director, was awarded a matching grant of $23,165 from KDLA towards a $46,330 center (near the Library’s Information Desk), and collaborative workstations (scattered throughout the 3rd floor and Loggia), where students, faculty and staff can create basic to intermediate, academic, multimedia content to enrich presentations or alternative assignments (web pages, brochures, posters, audio or video recordings). The grant will provide 12 new computers, a rich array of electronic media authoring and editing tools, printers, scanners, and workstations.
Steely Library Receives Grant from Cincinnati Bar Foundation
Steely Library receives Cincinnati Bar Foundation grant to provide educational Copyright awareness film and website for regional schools. Extended Collection Services Librarian John Schlipp has been awarded $9,000 to produce Creative Thinking: Intellectual Property for Teens and Young Adults. An NKU summer film class is creating an original film, while a project committee of NKU, U of L, and other regional community partners such as CET and the Campbell County Public Library will coordinate the final film/website presentation.

Philip Yannarella will attend in the EMDRIA Annual conference in Phoenix on September 11-14. He will represent Steely Library which is in partnership with EMDRIA on a special project.

"Measuring Southeastern Academic Library Website Accessibility," was presented at the 2008 EDUCAUSE Southeast Regional Conference in Jacksonville, Florida on June 3, 2008.
