- American Literature on the Web
- Links to a wide array of web sites on individual American authors from the 17th century to the present. Maintained by Akihito Ishikawa, Professor of English at Nagasaki College of Foreign Languages. Important note: while there are some gems here, many of the sites linked to from this site are of questionable quality. Use your skills in evaluating web sources before relying on them as research sources.

- The Labyrinth: Resources for Medieval Studies
- From Georgetown University. This is an excellent resource for medieval studies. Links to journals, web sites by subject, course materials, organizations, e-texts, and more.
- Literary Resources on the Net
- From Jack Lynch at Rutgers University . There are categories by time period, by genre, and by topic (Theory, Women's Literature, etc.) In most categories there is a collection of mailing lists, course syllabi, and links to archives, individual author pages, and other web resources.
- The Mining Co. Authors Page
- A guide to web pages about world authors. The Mining Co. also has pages for Fiction, English Literature, Women Writers and a variety of specific genres.
- Online Literary Criticism Collection
- The Internet Public Library, a collection of biographical and critical web sites for British and American literature.
- Voice of the Shuttle
- From Alan Liu at U.C. Santa Barbara. This is probably the most comprehensive site for humanities research, but unfortunately it is not selective -- the resources here are of uneven quality. The English Literature main page includes teaching resources as well as links to critical material, author pages, and more. It's organized by period and by genre. Also find Minority Literatures, Creative Writing, Theory, and Cultural Studies, among others.
- The Encyclopedia Mythica
- Encyclopedia Mythica is "an encyclopedia on mythology, folklore, legends, and more." The Mythology section covers 23 different cultural mythologies ranging from Aboriginal to Roman with articles and definitions of varying length.
