- STAT-USA
- The U.S. Department of Commerce's site for economic statistics. Provides the most recent U.S. economic indicators, construction, manufacturing and employment statistics, monetary statistics and economic policy documents from the Federal Reserve and other sources. Also offers international market and country information and international trade statistics. Some files are available only to subscribers. Library staff can log you in to those files on computers in Steely Library only. We cannot give out the password. This source partially replaces the old National Trade Data Bank CD.

- From the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. Calculates value of a dollar forward and backward in time, and provides annual table of Consumer Price Index and Inflation Rates, 1913-present.

Business Finance
- EDGAR
- The SEC database. Search for 10-K and other reports filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. EDGAR filings are posted 24 hours after the date of filing. There is a searchable archive of EDGAR documents indexing 1994 -1999.
- EDGAR Online
- A commercially produced site providing information derived from the government's SEC database. Certain features are available only to subscribers, but those available for "visitors" (free registration) include the previous day's filings, searches of the EDGAR database back to 1994, and the ability to download financial data into spreadsheet format.
- Hoover's Handbook of American Business, annual
- Profiles 750 major U.S. companies, providing an overview of the company, a brief history, information about officers, products, and key competitors, and financial statistics. A handy feature is the "List of Lists," which includes various rankings of companies, the Fortune and Forbes 500's, the top companies in selected industries, the companies in the Dow Jones and S and P indexes, the top 20 Black-owned, Hispanic-owned, and Women-owned businesses, and others. The Web site offers a limited version of the profiles, called "Company Capsules." Complete "Company Profiles" are available only to subscribers at this web site. NKU students, faculty and staff, however, can access them for free through Lexis-Nexis.

- Links to online annual reports or allows you to request a hard copy; also links to company home pages and to Edgar Online.
- Standard and Poor's Stock Reports, monthly
- Covers the current status of approximately 3,500 of the most widely traded stocks. Includes stocks listed on the American Stock Exchange, the New York Stock Exchange, the NASDAQ and regional exchanges. Reports are updated approximately every five weeks; you can order the very latest version of an individual stock report from Standard andPoor's web site.
- Value Line Investment Survey, weekly
- This is an investment service which analyzes and reports on company stocks from over 90 industries. Provides an overview and composite statistics for each industry as well as detailed information for selected stocks within that industry. Data for each stock include a fifteen year financial history and 5-year projections; quarterly sales, earnings and dividends; Value Line ratings; review of latest developments; and future prospects. Information on each company is updated quarterly. (A subscription is required to access complete Investment Survey information online.)

Browse by industry or combine searches to find, for example, a list of utilities companies in Cincinnati. Provides address and telephone number, a link to the company web site, and information about ownership (public or private), industry, stock exchange and ticker symbol.

- Offers the Global 500 and The Fortune 500.
- Greater Cincinnati Business Connections
- Directory of the over 6,500 members of the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, with complete SIC Code lists and SIC cross reference.

- Provides name and address, number of employees, industry, and officers.
- Thomas Register of American Manufacturers, 1998
- A comprehensive directory of manufacturers. Products and services provided by 155,000 U.S. and Canadian companies are listed in the first section. Addresses, phone numbers, chief executive officers, warehouses, distributors, and sales offices are in the second section. The third section contains over 1,000 reproductions of company catalogs. The Web version is searchable by company name, product, or brand name.

- This is a very useful search engine for finding work-related sites on the Web. It was created by the library staff at the Cornell University School of Industrial labor relations and the editorial staff of Human Resource Executive.

- E-Laws Advisors

Industry
- NAICS Code Manual
- In 1997, the North American Industry Classification System replaced SIC codes for industries. NAICS was developed jointly by the U.S., Canada and Mexico so that business statistics across North America could be more easily compared. The manual provides tables matching old SIC numbers to new NAICS numbers (and vice versa), and is searchable by key word.
- SIC Search
- Search the 1987 SIC Manual by keyword to find the SIC code for a particular industry, or search by SIC code to find an industry description.
Industry Reports

- A search engine for business web sites only, providing industry-specific news from a variety of sources, as well as links to industry associations.
- Economic Census
- Every five years the U.S. Bureau of the Census surveys the business areas of wholesale trade, retail trade, service industries, manufacturers, and the construction industry. The results are published under the titles Census of Wholesale Trade, Census of Retail Trade, etc. Statistics are given for a broad range of items. Some of the statistics are compiled in a geographical arrangement; (for example, service industries in Kentucky), and some are by subject (for example, a study limited to minority-owned business).
