Library Tour: Finding Books

The Catalog

Use NKUIRE, our online catalog, to find out which books, videos, CDs, recordings, and government documents the NKU libraries own.

NKUIRE can be used from any computer with Internet access, both on- and off-campus. No password is needed.

Finding a Book on the Shelves

Circulating books are located on the 1st floor and 2nd floor of Steely Library.

Steely Library uses the Library of Congress classification system to shelve our books. If you need an explanation of the system, click here.

Books with call numbers beginning A-N are on the 2nd floor. A circulating book is one that can be checked out of the library.

Books with call numbers beginning P-Z, as well as books marked "Oversize," are on the 1st floor. The Oversize books are shelved after the Z's.
