Distance Learners receive special borrowing privileges through SourceFinder.

When you sign up for SourceFinder, be sure to let us know you are eligible for special services by selecting "NKU Distance Learning Patron" for your status.

Steely Library is committed to meeting the information needs of all faculty, staff, and students who make up the Northern Kentucky University learning community. This includes those individuals teaching, supporting, or enrolled in Northern Kentucky University classes which do not physically meet at the Highland Heights campus.

Library Orientation

Steely Library encourages distance and online students to take advantage of our resources, to make the most of your academic education as well as to develop your information literacy skills as you become a lifelong learner. We recommend that you watch the videos for each section of the orientation to become familiar with Steely Library’s resources and services.

Steely Library books and other materials

Even if you cannot physically access Steely Library, you can still use the materials in our collection. Locate titles using the library catalog - NKUIRE. Request items using the SourceFinder system. If you meet the eligibility requirements, Steely Library will ship the item to you, and pay for all postage to and from your home.
