Installing the Public Printer using Vista
There are three steps to installing the Public Wireless Printer:
- Connect to the NKU_SECURE wireless network.
- Log into the NKU_SECURE wireless network.
- Install the public wireless printer.
1. Connect to the NKU_SECURE Wireless Network
Connect to the NKU_SECURE wireless network by clicking on: Start and then Network.

When the Network window opens, you will see the message: "This computer is not connected to a network. Click to connect." Click on the message to connect.

When the drop down menu appears, click on Connect to a Network.

Next, the "Select a network to connect to" window will open. Click to highlight NKU_SECURE and then click on the Connect button (in the lower right hand corner of the window).

You will receive the message: "NKU_SECURE is an unsecured network. Connect Anyway. Information sent over this network might be visible to others." Click on Connect Anyway to continue if you agree to these terms.

A window will open with the message: "Connecting to NKU_SECURE."

If the connection is successful, you will see the message: "Successfully connected to NKU_SECURE." Click on the Close button to close the window.

The next step is to log into the NKU_SECURE wireless network using your university account.
2. Log into the NKU_SECURE Wireless Network
Open a browser (i.e., Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox). The NKU_SECURE Web Authentication window will appear.

Type your NKU username in the User Name field, type your password in the Password field, and click the Submit button. If your university account is authenticated, you will receive the message: "Connection Successful. You can now use all our regular network services over the wireless network."

The next step is to install the public wireless printer.
3. Install the Public Wireless Printer
To install the public wireless printer, click on: Start and then Control Panel.

When the Control Panel window opens, click on Printer (which is located under the Hardware and Sound heading).

When the Printers window opens, click on Add a Printer to start the Add Printer Wizard.

The next window that opens will allow you to choose a local or network printer. Click to choose: "Add a network, wireless, or Bluetooth printer."

You will see the message: "Searching for available printers." Click to choose: "The printer that I want isn't listed."

The next window will allow you to find a printer by name or TCP/IP address. Click to choose: Select a shared printer by name. In the field below, type \\nku065920\PublicPrinter and then click on the Next button.

The "Connect to nku065920.hh.nku.edu" window will then open prompting you for your NKU username and password. Type nku\ followed by your NKU username in the User name field and type your password in the Password field. Make sure there is a checkmark in the box next to Remember my password and then click OK.

If your university account is authenticated, you will receive a message: "Connecting to PublicPrinter on nku065920."

Next, the "Type a printer name" window will appear. Accept the default printer name of PublicPrinter on nku065920 by clicking the Next button.

A message will appear stating: "You've successfully added PublicPrinter on nku065920." Click on the Finish button to complete the installation.

The printer should only need to be installed once. The next time you visit the library, just connect to the NKU_SECURE wireless network, open a browser to log into the NKU_SECURE wireless network, and then you'll be able to print to the PublicPrinter on nku065920 in Steely Library.
