The Web has a variety of sites useful to the English student. Here are a few recommendations:

- This collection contains critical and biographical websites of authors and their works. It can be browsed by author, title, nationality, and literary period.

- This online guide provides information about what literary criticism is and how to find it using libraries and the Web.
- MIT Libraries: Internet Collections by Period, Genre, Etc.
- This guide provides links to Internet collections of literary sites divided by period and genre.
- Lit Links
- Lit Links contains biographies and annotated links for more than 700 writers.
- Atlantic Monthly Magazine Search
- Use the search box to find reviews dating back to the 19th century.
- PAL: Perspectives in American Literature
- Search more than 450 author pages or scroll down to search by literary period.
- Modern American Poetry
- Provided by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, MAPS includes more than 30,000 pages of biographies, critical essays, syllabi, and images relating to 161 poets.
