Finding Electronic Journals

Methods of Access

Electronic journals in Steely Library can be accessed in several ways:

Catalog Access

To access electronic journals through the library catalog, search for the journal by title or subject.
If you would like to browse a list of electronic journals, try searching by the call number "ELECTRONIC ACCESS."

 

Database Access

To access individual articles from electronic journals, you can search Steely Library's collection of databases. It may be helpful to start with the larger and more popular databases. Each database will have its own search interface, but most can be searched by author, title, and keyword.

Journals on the Internet

Some journal publishers provide access to all or part of their journals via the internet. These journals can be located using the tools below. Please be aware that only a portion of these journals are available for free.

Directory of Open Access Journals
Sponsored by Lund University Libraries, supported by the Information Program of the Open Society Institute, along with SPARC (The Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition). Covers free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals. Can be searched by title or keyword.
Electronic Journal Miner
Sponsored by the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries. This web page provides a series of indexes (e.g. title and Library of Congress Subject Heading) to provide easy access to different electronic serials.
New Jour
Sponsored by the University of California, San Diego. A list of journals and newsletters available on the Internet. The list can be searched by title.
