Media Collections
General Information
Media Collections is located in Steely Library room 215. The department is made up of the Steely Library Media Collections and the Southwest Ohio and Neighboring Libraries Media Resources Collection. Media Collections also makes materials available via the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives.
Steely Library Media Collections offers a variety of services to faculty, staff, and students. These services include:
- Check-out of documentaries and movies on VHS and DVD
- Check-out of music CD's and LP's
- Check-out of CD-Rom's
- Lap-top computers (to be used within the library facility)
- Study carrel with equipment capable of displaying media in various visual and audio formats
The study carrel provides resources for viewing video telecourses from KET, the University of Kentucky, and KTLN. Other departmental audio and video materials, or SWON Libraries collections that have been placed on reserve by instructors may also be viewed with this equipment.
Steely Library is proud to host the Southwest Ohio and Neighboring Libraries Media Resources Collection. This collection consists of approximately 3600 titles on various topics. Check-out of these materials is limited to instructors at local university and high school libraries, but others can view them within the study carrel. The check-out period ranges from four days to one week, based on special permissions and availability. Due to the heavy use of SWON Libraries materials, scheduling in advance is strongly encouraged. Instructors are advised to request video titles at the beginning of each semester.
