Library Graduate Assistant for Information Literacy Instruction Program

Hours:
Twenty hours per week. Work schedules vary to accommodate Graduate Assistant and departmental needs, but will include day, night, and/or weekend hours. No work assignments will be made during University holidays.
Job Description:
The Information Literacy Instruction program of Steely Library is seeking a Library Graduate Assistant (LGA) for a one year appointment (Fall 2008-Spring 2009). The assistantship will include 20 hours a week at a rate of $15.00 an hour. Through first hand experience, the individual in this position will learn all aspects of information literacy instruction. The LGA will work directly with the Instruction Team to acquire effective information literacy instruction skills and provide instruction to various NKU core courses. There will be opportunities for involvement in several information literacy project development endeavors including: tutorials, Web pages, marketing, and assessment materials. Limited reference activities through the information desk, email and IM may be involved.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of LIS 625 Instructional Services and/or equivalent instruction experience; comfortable with web page design and use of Microsoft Office programs; excellent communication, presentation, and organization skills; a familiarity with current instruction practices and technologies; an ability to work well with library users with varying levels of information literacy experience and skills; a commitment to the educational role of academic reference faculty; ability to work collaboratively with library faculty and other NKU personnel.
