Educational Outreach

General Information

Steely Library is committed to meeting the information needs of all faculty, staff, and students who make up the Northern Kentucky University learning community. This includes those individuals teaching, supporting, or enrolled in Northern Kentucky University classes which do not physically meet at the Highland Heights campus. If you have any comments about, or suggestions for Educational Outreach, please let us know.

Resources

Steely Library books and other materials:
Even if you cannot physically access Steely Library, you can still use the materials in our collection. Locate titles using the NKUIRE catalog.  Request items using the ILLiad system. If you meet the eligibility requirements, Steely Library will pay for all postage.
When you sign up for ILLiad, be sure to let us know you are eligible by selecting "NKU Distance Learning Patron" for your status.
E-Books:
Steely Library has created a collection of links to websites that offer free access to online electronic books.
E-Journals:
This webpage provides instructions and links for accessing Steely Library's collection of online, full-text, electronic journals.
Remote access databases:
Steely Library provides access to a number of databases that can be searched for articles and information.
Electronic Reserves
Instructors can post class reserve items electronically. These items are available to students via the internet.
Interlibrary Loan:
Books, articles, videos, and microforms can be requested from other libraries. Request interlibrary loan items using the ILLiad system. If you meet the eligibility requirements, Steely Library will pay for all postage.
Research and Instructional Services:
Distance learning students can contact the Research and Instructional Services librarians via telephone, email, or chat.
