Book Connection
Autobiography of a Face by Lucy Grealy
Steely Library Resources for Students and Course Instructors
- Reserve Collection
Over 50 books and articles related to the issues discussed in this year's Book Connection are conveniently available for you and your students at the Circulation/Reserve Desk on the Library's 3rd floor. (You can also view this list in our catalog, NKUIRE, by clicking on COURSE RESERVE and choosing NKU Book Connection as the Department.) The collection includes articles about Lucy Grealy as well as works which she has written on a variety of topics. There are library materials related to beauty, self-image, cancer, and other topics presented in Autobiography. In addition, we have included materials focusing upon Picasso's portraitures to help your students to prepare for the Robert Rosenblum lecture. The Library has ordered a copy of Picasso and Portraiture, the book that includes Robert Rosenblum's essay. When it is received, the book will be added to this reserve collection. You and your students will find all these works listed under the heading "NKU Book Connection" at the Circulation/Reserve Desk.
Faculty are invited to add relevant materials that may be used by their own classes or by other instructors to this collection. Please contact Threasa Wesley (x5721 or wesley@nku.edu) for more information.
- Read More Guides
The Library has prepared guides for finding additional materials on the issues and topics presented in Autobiography of a Face. The NKU Book Connection Read More guide is available on the Library's website (http://library.nku.edu/). Click on RESEARCH HELP. There you will find a menu of options; under Research Guides by Topic, you will see Book Connection. Printed copies of these guides are also available in the Library for your convenience.
- "What If You Could See Through The Hype"
A poster designed by the international student employees of Steely Library depicting their own view of beauty will be located near the entrance of the Library. Copies of the "Read More" guides will be available near this poster.
- Class presentations
The Reference and Instructional Services Department will be happy to assist you and your students with any research assignment. If you would like a librarian to speak to your class regarding a research assignment related to the Book Connection, please contact Mary Chesnut (x5826 or chesnut@nku.edu) to schedule a presentation.
