Department of Special Collections and Archives

Attention

The NKU Special Collections & Archives Department will be closed on Thursday and Friday April 17 & 18 due to staff attendance at the Midwest Archives Conference.

Our normal business hours are Monday thru Friday 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Please feel free to call us at (859) 572-6158 if you have any questions prior to your research visit.

General Information

The Special Collections and Archives Department is located in the Schlachter Family Archives, near the University Welcome Center on the first floor of Steely Library.

The Department collects, indexes and preserves documents and artifacts relating to the history Northern Kentucky and the Tri-state region.

Special Collections and Archives is also the repository for documents, photographs and artifacts illustrating the history of Northern Kentucky University.

The Department is also home to Records Management for the University. Contact us if you have any questions regarding the retention or destruction of official documents.
