Materials Budget Advisory Committee Minutes

April 22, 2002

Present: Arne Almquist, Fred Beasley, Tom Heard, Clinton Hewan, Lois Schultz

Arne Almquist thanked everyone for coming.

After brief comments from Mr. Almquist, Lois Schultz presented the recommended formula from the Formula Subcommittee.

The formula:

X = (A + 2B + 3C + D +2E ) ÷ 9

  • Where X = Departmental allocation
  • A = Lower division courses
  • B = Upper division courses
  • C = Credit hours
  • D = Cost of books
  • E = Cost of periodicals

No department could lose or gain more than 10%.

After discussion, the formula was revised as follows: No department could lose or gain more than 5% a year. The revised formula was accepted.

After some closing comments, the meeting was adjourned.
